Privacy
Privacy is the default, not an extra.
A lodge’s roll is nobody else’s business — not even ours. Which is why every new lodge is set up with member-privacy encryption switched on, unless you ask otherwise.
Encrypted before it leaves the room
Names and emails are encrypted in your officer’s browser, using its own cryptography, before they ever reach us. What we store is ciphertext we cannot read back into names.
Only your lodge holds the key
No master key on our side — nothing we, or anyone who compelled us, could read. Several officers can each hold a passphrase, and recovery goes to your lodge’s own email, never through us.
Recommended, and honestly described
A few conveniences switch off while it’s on — AI receipt scanning among them — and we tell you which. No vague promises.
How strong is that, really?
The encryption can’t be broken by trying keys — there are more of them than atoms in the earth. The only way in is to guess your lodge’s passphrase, and we make each guess deliberately slow. So the strength is in your hands. Here is roughly how long an attacker who had stolen our entire encrypted database would take to grind through passphrases of randomly chosen words:

Four words already sees off a criminal; five or six puts your roll beyond any attacker, at any budget, for thousands of years. That’s why the app asks for at least four words and nudges you higher — a phrase you’ll actually remember beats a short jumble. (Cautious estimates on today’s hardware; “random” means chosen by chance, not a saying you’d recognise.) The recovery code is no back door either: it’s 128 random bits, stronger than any passphrase, and a keyholder can retire it at any time.

Everything runs on AWS in Sydney, so your records stay in the country — sent over HTTPS and encrypted where they’re stored.

Some lodges don’t want their records on anyone’s servers — ours included. Fair enough. There’s a version that runs entirely on your own computer, for Mac and Windows.

The same app on the Secretary’s or Treasurer’s own machine. The roll, the books and every receipt live there and nowhere else.
Works without the internet
Run a lodge night with no connection at all. The one thing it ever sends is a small licence check — never a record.
Handover in an envelope
An encrypted backup file and an unlock code. Give the next officer both, separately, and they carry straight on.

To be plain: there are no automatic backups — you make your own — and the records are only as safe as the computer, so we ask you to turn on FileVault (Mac) or BitLocker (Windows). It’s one officer per computer, and AI receipt scanning is off. It isn’t downloaded from this site — get in touch and we’ll set your lodge up with it.
